I'm not usually writing critics on IMDb, but when i checked the page of this movie I was really surprised that there had been so couple of reviews. They've got to quit throwing in former A-list actors as holding "starring" roles to get you to watch these movies.

Issues soon go south for Greene and Birns due to a lost $70,000. In Jonathan Hensleigh's latest movie based on Danny Greene's life in the 1970s, we see the tough guy who works his way up from the docks in Cleveland, Ohio. I also like it that the actors apparently had a actual enjoyable working on this movie and that the director did not cut those seconds when they can hardly suppress laugh. With this in mind there is certainly some dramatisation, but the news footage (especially that shown at the end of the film) gives it the feel of raw reality. The sort of sparsity, lack of exaggerated effects and the friendship and loyalty and drama painted in everyday-life terms without having overly high Shakespearian tones, gives room for the story to be absorbed and emotions to grow. Its been documented for years the association my family members has had with the mob. Interspersed with the actors' scenes were actual clips of film footage from local newscasts of the day, which added authenticity and a touchstone to the amazing story that unfolded in Cleveland some 30-40 years ago. And the life they highlight deserves low production value. Soon they're married, have two kids, and the towering Irishman is arrested for extortion, racketeering and other techniques of corruption. But you don't watch it for that. But it was successful. Why complain about that. I was intrigued by the roll of Stevenson which in my opinion was not what you would expect in a standard movie about wise-guys. Kill the Irishman dowload Oddly, couple of put up a struggle – when he battles Merke's hulking bodyguard, the man goes down without delivering a single punch. America loves the tough guy. The book and the movie, demonstrate in realistic detail just how far the Mafia has declined in the post golden era of the 50s and 60's. I had a chance to catch this at the Sunshine Theater on East Houston in NYC. In "Kill the Irishman" we are now given a new underdog, poor guy to cheer for, Danny Greene (played by Ray Stevenson).

Sure, if you like tough guys and if you like cheering for the bad guy. I in no way do this," implausibly whispers Greene's new girlfriend Joan Madigan (Linda Cardellini), a bartender, as they make love in the back of a automobile the first night they meet. Christpher Walken: that's worth watching. I felt like I was watching a bad mash-up of The Sopranos and The Wire. Ray Stevenson does a credible job as Irish Danny Green and Vincent D'Onforio is even much better as the conflicted John Nardi. A lot more supporting actors are believable over the leads, (the most offensive overacting and underacting comes from Vincent D'Onofrio, Tony Lo Bianco and Laura Ramsey) and the action, suspense and tone of the movie are as flat as Stevenson's inflectionless dialogue. Greene doesn't show fear he keeps himself believing his intent is to be a modern day Robin Hood for the community. I knew both of the nearby news reporters who were featured, including Brian Ross, now head of ABC Television' investigative unit. So, he is also a tough guy with some intellect. There isn't anything particularly terrific about Kill the Irishman movie(or historically accurate for that matter).

The performances are fine, as is the cinematography. I extremely suggest "Kill the Irishman" as an action-packed, escapist, period piece, featuring superior acting and excellent film editing. My expectations were a small too high right after seeing the trailer, Ray Stevenson did a excellent job you can't argue against that but overall there were too numerous clichés the supporting cast was terrible, familiar faces such as Val Kilmer, Vinnie Jones, Christopher Walken and Steve Schirripa were more distracting than anything. The guy who faces the impossible odds and beats them to a bloody pulp. In addition, he's a gangster with a heart. We in no way really get inside the mind or world of Danny Green - and it all feels really a lot as although we're just skimming the surface all the time.

The problems lies partially in a script that lacks imagination and chooses instead to deliver a linear plot that is frankly dull until right after the initial hour and secondly, and perhaps more seriously, the leads are only competent - what we get is precisely what an additional review had said - a produced for Tv film feeling on this - but absolutely nothing akin to big film. 1 Irishman, with the assist of an old Mafia associate, showed the world just how incompetent the mob had become in Cleveland and elsewhere. Having said that, I don't fault Stevenson as significantly as Hensleigh, (right after all not only did he agree to the casting, but with comparable material, look at the performance Scorsese coached out of Ray Liotta) for an intolerably poor script.

Regardless of an appalling script, a tin ear for the spoken word, a much less than comic book vision of the Irish soul and main characters who are at greatest uncompellingly portrayed, the facts alone still shine. I liked it so much that I even watched it a second time the next day.

Numerous of them give the movie a decidedly authentic feel, paired with a believable assortment of props and costumes.

Dug all the actors --Ray Stevenson did terrific job -- also the rest of the cast was fun and quirky --- among the standouts are Chris Walken and Robert Davi any film would be worth seeing just for them-- even in small roles these guys bring so a lot and are a lot more versatile that a lot of the stock in play stereotypes ---Danny Greene story was true. Sadly, in spite of an amazing, nationally covered, accurate story as a beginning point, a wonderful soundtrack, outstanding function by the DP and masterful supporting cast, who turn in excellent performances all through, Jonathan Hensleigh has managed to squander all that and come up with one thing resembling a mediocre network Television movie, attempting desperately hard and failing to capture the essence of the Irish gangster. On the whole a effectively cast and directed movie, although I do have my reservations (if it be only one) concerning the cast. So, if you don't mind saying that this could have been a truly great film, if only not directed by a hack, then invest your 2 bucks and two hours and just don't go see an additional Hensleigh film and give away your dinner theater tickets for Stephenson in Othello.
